Learning Communities

Yew Chung International School TF3 Campus, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong | year: 2014-2019 | status: built | area: ~4,500m2, multiple floors (campus0wide) | team: Annette Chu, Timothy Cheung and Tommy Yeung | photo credits: Yvonne Wong

Eureka transformed Yew Chung International School floor by floor, replacing traditional lecture-style classrooms with diverse open learning studios. This project was about learning the science of learning communities and the know-how to do open classrooms properly.

Full-height window walls, gradated blue-to-pink mullions and strategic acoustic treatments create a transparent, colourful and highly adaptable environment. Traditional partitions were removed, increasing usable learning area by over 20% while allowing natural light to flood the spaces. The result is a new paradigm of collaborative, vibrant education where students and teachers thrive in flexible, connected communities.
